Trailer Conversion: Partnering with Habix Habitat to Build an Off-grid Bike Trailer

At Habix Habitat, you’ll find the owner, Mark, and his team working away on converting sprinter vans into nomadic homes or business superchargers. But sometimes, you’ll come across the crew working on a project that isn’t fully in their wheelhouse. That’s when collaboration is key. When a client requested a trailer that could house her Revival bikes and stay powered off the grind, Habix Habitat knew wooden cabinets wouldn’t quite do. They needed sturdy aluminum cabinets that matched their quality standards. Aluminum Cabinet Co. fit the bill.

Off the Beaten Path

In early 2022, Habix Habitat received a unique project request: a motorcycle trailer. Usually, Habrix’s focus is van conversions, but they’re not afraid to go off the beaten path. So the crew said yes.

Now it was time to formulate a plan.

The client’s garage wouldn’t fit her two motorcycles. She needed a trailer to store them in – and move them to various bike shows. Her ideal trailer could hold the bikes and charge her electric one. She needed to be able to charge the bike at any time, anywhere.

Mark designed a trailer that would work great for hanging at the home, headed to motorcycle shows, or getting off the grid. It included solar panels that powered the bike charging station. It would make biking possibilities endless.

When designing, the team decided on custom aluminum cabinets. While the Habix’s crew are amazing craftsmen, they wanted aluminum cabinet building experts on this project.  After reaching out to several companies across the country, Aluminum Cabinet Co. rose to the top.

“They were making a product that was exactly what we needed,” says Mark. “They were able to get us a quote and answer all of our questions quickly.”

Kelly O’Toole, owner of ACC, took the time to understand Habix’s vision and get exact measurements. His team created custom cabinets that fit the trailer to a tee. The final trailer looks straight out of a magazine, with its well-thought out design, plenty of storage, and ample room for bikes.

The results made everybody happy. The client loved her trailer. Habix received aluminum cabinets that stood up to their quality of work. ACC found a new partner for future projects.

“Yeah, we definitely would work with Aluminum Cabinets again,” states Mark. “We really like the quality and finish. Everything was shipped well and nothing came damaged. It fit exactly as we measured it; they had really great attention to detail.”
